Last week I attended a curriculum writing workshop and learned about www.goodreads.com. Someone described it as facebook for readers. I dont have a facebook but I did sign up for good reads. While I signed up I thought this would be a cool way for our students to recommend books to others and have people suggest books for them. Could you incorporate this website in your class?

It is a great site! As an author I use it and as a reader it helps me connect. I used to do quite a few book reviews on the site. I had my students (community college freshman) write reviews and I told them Goodreads might be a good location to look at how other people write reviews.
I just took a look at it and decided to sign up as well. With Social Media being a #1 thing going on, I do have a Teacher Facebook page and I added my students to my reading network. I have no problem incorporting this into my classroom; however I still think that reading is a culture and students need to know that their life and knowledge depends on it. Also, seeing adults embrace this helps them as well. I'm so excited and motivated.
