What Teaching Means: Stories from America's Classrooms

Dear Colleagues,

At this time last year, I posted a call for submissions for a collection of creative nonfiction by teachers to this group. The book, What Teaching Means: Stories from America's Classrooms, is now a reality. 23 of the 39 writers in the book are Writing Project TCs. Many of them wrote their pieces in their local sites' summer invitational institutes. Clearly, your help in getting the word about this project out last spring and summer has allowed several writing project teacher the opportunity to reach a wider audience.

For more information about the book, to read some reviews, and to read my preface to the book, check out the What Teaching Means blog at: http://dboster.blogspot.com/
To pre-order a copy of the book, check out the website of our publisher, Rogue Faculty Press, at http://www.roguefacultypress.com/p/store.html
I believe that you will find a great deal of writing in this book that speaks to many of the issues that are at the heart of the National Writing Project. My co-editor, Marni Valerio and I will be at the USN conference in Tulsa to talk about the power of teachers telling their stories. Hopefully, we'll see some of you then.
Thank you,
Daniel Boster

Hi Daniel,

First, congratulations to you and Marni on getting the book completed! I am looking forward to reading it and to having it available as a way to offer authentic windows into classrooms and teaching lives. I look forward to seeing you in Tulsa and think the USN conference will be an excellent place to share these voices of teachers. Thank you and all who contributed their stories to this important book.
