Workshop Series Agenda

Hey Tish,

Thanks for sharing this!  I wondered, did a specific school ask you to provide this, or did your site create it and invite schools?  I guess this second question drives the first.  How did you get administrators and teachers out for Wednesday PD?

Mike

Hi Mike--

Actually, we've had both experiences.

In this year's case, a TC who "gets" NWP set it up for her district's principals and teacher-leaders, diseminated the little blurb we composed, negotiated costs with us and started nudging each of the schools in her district to send an admin or a teacher leader (e.g. lead special ed teacher or chair of the HS English dept).

I don't know how participants get the time away from school. I do know they enjoy being with each other AND have meetings both right before and right after our sessions. I think they're motivated by Nancy's encouragement and the fact that their schools have lots of room for improvement according to their standardized test scores.

When the site ran these programs years ago, we drew up a blurb and sent it out to all VT schools. We had help in those days from VT's (more well endowed) DOE and/or a (very enlightened) president of the Vermont Principals' Association. We charged $100. (then $125 in later years) and offered coffee and continental breakfast, a nice lunch and a BWM book. The first year we did it, we offered two venues: a hotel in the northern part of the state and another in the central area. Attendance that first year was about 40 people per session.
