The new frontier of advocacy

Folks might be interested in this post from EdWeek that might as well been titled "how the sausage is made at the state level."  It discusses the new crop of education advocacy groups targeting state legislation, in many cases about accountability and teach evaluation.  See "New K-12 Advocacy Groups Wield State Klout" in Ed Week.

The post is part of a multipart series called The Changing Face of Education Advocacy. Worth a look when you have time.

I don't find this very encouraging. Rethinking Schools did a piece on Stand for Children recently that is relevant here.

I don't feel that the increased heat around these issues is generating much light.

In NH, we are facing some radical legislators who are targetting public education.  This website has been helpful for teachers in our advocacy work:  http://www.dnhpe.org/
