July 9-13, 2012 3RDspace Summer Leadership Institute in Creativity & Innovation

Are you ready to explore your untapped community resources like museums and libraries, in order to harness them as writing-project learning labs relevant to youth-centered & connected learning?

Are you seeking to explore how to rethink your writing project sites as a innovation hub for teachers who lead and leaders who teach?
Have you wondered how you and other like-minded sojourners could come together, building on our NWP principles, to create human-centered communities-based projects that can more tightly communicate to prospective funding sources?
Do you want to play, build to learn and learn from what you build?

If so, then the 3RDspace 5-Day Advanced Institute for Leadership is for you!"

The 3RDspace Summer Leadership Institute in Creativity & Innovation is like no other learning space you’ll ever know! Through a partnership between the CoLab, Piasa Bluffs Writing Project and the Saint Louis Art Museum, in the 3RDspace, site leaders will learn to harness the human-centered wisdom in the ResponsiveDesign™ model to explore, envision & enact innovative  approaches tostrengthen and/or transform their site work. With this design-thinking approach, leaders will playfully build and confidently test prototypes for site leadership, programs and cross-site collaboration.

The 3RDspace Institute will focus on and support site leaders to: Explore their site’s daunting problems with site leaders through radical collaboration. Envisiontransformational Invitational Summer Institutes, Professional Development for Schools and Continuity Models. Enact those plans by building to learn and testing to fail.

The 5-day event costs $495 per first person from each site; then each additional person from the same site will only pay $250. Space will be limited to a 20 participants so don't delay!

Samuel Reed

Philadelphia Writing Project

Hello Samuel:

This SI grows out of Advanced Summer Institutes for the Arts that began in 2004 out of NWP sites and non-school institutions like museums and historic sites. You can learn more about the CoLab at www.OurCoLab.org . Our site, the Piasa Bluffs Writing Project, draws on CoLab's theoretical ethnographic notions of knowledge and cultures being socially constructed in and through multiple literacies. In 2012, we will enact a cross-site and interdisciplinary experience centered on the relationship between ethnographic teacher-research and the field of art and design. Hence, we are inviting site leaders to come explore, envision & enact! I know your WP has begun some interesting forays into WP-museum-based explorations...perhaps you might be able to join us this summer?
