Marshall University Writing Project's two summer institutes held a joint field trip on Friday, June 24, 2011, to the Clay Center for Arts and Sciences at Charleston, West Virginia. The two summer institutes, Three Bridges (which meets in Huntington on the MU campus) and Coalfield Writers (which is the rural satellite, meeting in Logan WV) enjoyed a day filled with Ekphrastic writing. The site enjoyed group morning / sacred writing time, and discussed research about the impact of enrichment activities, like field trips, for students who live in poverty. After the outing at the Clay Center, several of the TCs and fellows got together for lunch out at Tide Water Grill, and to see a movie later.
