I-Search: Good examples?

Hi all,

I'm preparing to launch an "I-search" writing sequence with my 4th grader writers  here in Juneau, Alaska, and wondering if any of you out there have some good student samples (from any grade level) that you'd be willing to share. I'm trying to stay close to Macrorie's insistence that we start with genuine "itch to scratch" questions, and plan to really emphasize talking to experts over searching the web, but we'll see how it goes.

I've misplaced my hard copy paper files of examples from over the years, so would be really grateful if some of you were willing to share such resources here. I'll aim to post a few as our work takes shape, too.

Best wishes on a clear and cold January Sunday.

Tom

Hi Tom,

I did some work with a group of seventh graders a few years ago on I-Searches. Send me your email and I will send you some electronic copies and the article we published in Voices in the Middle.

Take care

Lori

Central Texas: 70 degrees, sunny, and unusually dry :-)

Thanks Lori,

I'll read about anything you've been a part of! Looking forward to it.

Forecast: Warming up into the double digits, but 60-70 mph winds today!

Hi Tom. Just noticed this post. Just fyi that Youth Voices (http://youthvoices.net/) developed based loosely on i-search projects. I'm not sure you'll find something that maps directly but I thought you might want to check it out overall.

Nice to see you in Austin!
