Last night, IWP held our 4th annual Day on Writing celebration. We used a week-night rather than the official day on Saturday to be more considerate of teachers' precious weekend time. 82 educators, including IWP leaders, 2012 summer institute participants, several administrators, and lots of teachers new to our work were all there. We heard from Donna Ogle (former Pres. of IRA) about the Common Core & then sat in discussion tables for teachers to share ideas as they ate dinner together. This is a highly energizing event every time we do it -- and the teachers love the talk at the tables. Doesn't hurt that it takes place at a well-known Chicago watering-hole & music venue, Fitzgerald's Pub.
