Philadelphia Writing Project Awarded Gold Key for Excellence in the Field

Congratulations to our friends at PhilWP for this award, 

given annuallly to a regional affiliate or partner organization that demonstrates extraordinary dedication to providing opportunities to creative young people; perserveres through challenges over time; and expands the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards program to reach more participants.

The Alliance selected the Philadelphia Writing Project

because of its dedication to increasing participation in the Scholastic Writing Awards from just a few students when the program began in Philadelphia three years ago to more than 500 submissions in 2012 . . . .  PhilWP has also implemented exemplary strategies for activating its network of more than 700 teachers to increase awareness of the awards; built relationships with public school systems and community organizations, such as the Philadelphia Arts in Education Partnership; and expanded participaton among studetns from underserved communities.

PhilWP will be honored at a Gold Key Gala on May 31.
