This past week, we consolidated our NWP offices on one floor. The days were full of packing, moving, unpacking, and figuring out if everything will fit into its new home. At times, I wondered if all the sorting should have been done first. (Like that was going to happen!) The moving process made me think about the parallel process that the network is going through. As a network, we are collectively figuring out what we want and need so that we can continue to be a center for innovations that improve student achievement and maintain first-rate professional learning communities. As I unpack boxes in my smaller, cozier office, and make decisions about what to keep, what to let go, and what to creatively reuse, I‘m thankful for the stories about change that so many of you have recounted in recent months. I think about the specific accounts that you’ve shared about changes that are underway at writing projects, all carefully planned to sustain your sites into the future. I’m inspired by the way you’ve been confronting change and embracing challenges. You help me to do the same.
