For the past few years, we have been using Blogs and Nings for our Western Massachusetts Writing Project Summer Institutes to connect with each other as an online community. With the launch of NWP Connect, we decided this year to dip our toes into creating a Summer Institute space for our WMWP SI. We're crossing our fingers that our space will be helpful and that it will also show our new WMWP teachers the connections from our site to the larger NWP network.
This morning, I created a video tutorial for our Summer Institute folks, as they work to navigate to get signed in and logged into our space. I am hopeful it will be helpful for them. A few other NWP friends asked if I might share the video tutorial here at NWP Connect.
The link to the video is here: http://vimeo.com/25812457
Obviously, this is site-specific, but it may give you some ideas on how to share your own space with your community. I used Jing for the screencasting and then Vimeo for the video hosting, if that helps.

Wow Kevin -- very nice. Just saw this. Thanks for sharing this with other sites.
Thanks for sharing this, Kevin! Another terrific video from you.
I wanted to point out that we also have screencast tutorials from a regular member's perspective on how to use many of the widgets at NWP Connect. You can find them at the Help section here in the National Community.
Once again, I wonder how this guy does it all! I plan to use this directly for our site at UMdWP or possibly "steal" it. Maybe I can even try to remix. One of the important contributions from digital media comes in forcing the issue of ownership of ideas, publications, and on. Communication with its roots in the commons, or the public space, offers us a chance to feel connected--which takes us back to this initiative by NWP. And it's good to feel connected with Western Mass, with our national network, with you and your inspirational work. Thanks, Kevin.
Thanks for this Paul. I plan to show it to our leadership team at Eastern Michigan Writing Project. We are exploring what this platform can do for us.
