Both assessment consortia released frameworks for their assessments in August 2011, inviting comment (during the time when most school folks were on vacation). The framework documents are attached. Given that regardless of our enthusiasm for the Common Core, we need to keep an even sharper eye on the assessments, it is good that the consortia have started to share their work and ideas. Whether the work and ideas are good, well, that's what we need to figure out. Download 'em, check them out, say what you see and think.

Folks who would like a briefing before responding to the documents might appreciate this Issue Brief released by Washington Partners, our colleagues in DC. You can find the brief in the file list in this community. Find it here.
This brief was written several months ago now, and states are not necessarily aligned with the consortium listed here.
The Washington Partners brief lists New Mexico in the SBAC consortium but New Mexico is now committed to PARCC for their assessment. All we are getting through the NMPED is PARCC. Is Achieve writing the assessment for PARCC? I really thought the thinking was clearer in the SBAC framework - and SBAC cites NWP's expertise on the teaching of writing.
What has happened to these frameworks since August, 2011?
Hi Marla,
Achieve is still the leading much of the PARCC work. Both PARCC and SBAC have lots of bids out for folks to work on tasks, etc. It may be awhile before we see what the tasks look like.

I think the idea is pretty good. The realization takes time though, but hopefully it will succeed. All in all, I support you :)
