Kelly Gallagher's new book now online—looks very CCSS relevant

Kelly Gallagher, author of several great books and CWP T-C, has a new book coming out shortly, and it is available for online preview. The book looks very relevant to CCSS and to those folks in the NWP working with the Literacy Design Collaborative.

The book is called Write Like This: Teaching Real-World Writing Through Modeling and Mentor Texts, and the preview suggests a focus on real world writing tasks that ask young people to:
  • express and reflect;
  • inform and explain;
  • evaluate and judge;
  • inquire and explore;
  • analyze and interpret;
  • take a stand/propose a solution.
Kelly includes mentor texts throughout the book—professional samples and models he has written in front of his students—as well as a chapter on meaningful revision and editing.
