Dolores teaches fifth grade at Cromack Elementary School in the border town of Brownsville, Texas, her own birthplace. Most of her students' home language is Spanish. In addition to her many years of experience teaching immigrant students, Dolores has also been a member of the ELL Network Leadership team, and a facilitator of the NWP Professional Writing Retreats. She is currently completing a memoir on growing up Mexican-American in Brownsville.
